Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth roster already included one former NLL Most Valuable Player in John Grant Jr. On Wednesday, the team announced that it signed another: Athan Iannucci, who won the award in 2008 when he shattered the league record for goals scored in a season with 71. The contract is pending league approval.
"Athan's a big, dynamic goal-scorer," said president & general manager Steve Govett. "We're not going to stand pat. We need more scoring."
The Mammoth was held to a season-low six goals in a road loss to Edmonton on Saturday.
Iannucci's resume speaks for itself - 196 goals in just 79 games played. The six-year NLL veteran also has 148 career assists.
The team also announced the release of Jordan McBride. Iannucci is expected to make his Mammoth debut in Vancouver on Friday. Colorado returns to Pepsi Center on Saturday to take on the Buffalo Bandits on "ÃËMilitary Appreciation Night' at 7pm MT.
