Saturday's Game Pays Tribute to Active, Retired Military
January 15, 2014 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - On Saturday, the Colorado Mammoth takes on the Buffalo Bandits at 7pm MT on HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center on the team's annual 'Military Appreciation Night'. For the second consecutive year, players will wear jerseys and shorts that resemble military fatigues. The names and military branches of veterans and those currently serving will appear on the jerseys' right and left chests, respectively.
"Honoring active and retired military is the least we can do as an organization to thank the brave men and women who protect our freedom," said Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett. "This game has much greater significance than most other regular-season games."
Select player jerseys, and all player game-worn shorts, will be auctioned off on the concourse outside section 144 through the end of halftime. Net proceeds from the auction, and from one that was held in December, benefit The Home Front Cares, a Colorado-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to help needy veterans and military families with rent/mortgages, utilities, car and home repairs, groceries, and other essential life needs.
At halftime, fans will witness a future-soldier swear-in. Throughout the game, military members will be recognized.
Tickets to the game are on sale now at the Pepsi Center Box Office, all Altitude Tickets outlets, online at AltitudeTickets.com, or by phone at 866.461.6556.
