Maloney Wins Player of the Month for June

DURHAM, NC- Rockland Boulders C Joe Maloney started his season with back-to-back Can-Am League Player of the Week awards and never looked back. Maloney's red-hot June has earned him the Rawlings Player of the Month award.

Maloney had seven multi-hit games in June, including a pair of three-hit games. On June 17, he went 3-for-5 with a run scored in a 6-5 loss to the Ottawa Champions. Just a few days later on June 21, Maloney logged a 3-for-4 game with three doubles and an RBI against the Shikoku Island All-Stars. He hit his two home runs on the month on June 7 against the Gary SouthShore RailCats of the American Association in a 7-6 win and on June 24 in a 6-0 win over the Sussex County Miners.

On the season, Maloney is now hitting .359 (52-for-148). He has 12 doubles, two triples and five homers with 29 RBI on the year. Maloney is a second-year member of the Boulders. Last year, he hit .271 with 16 doubles and 17 home runs while driving in 66. He won the Player of the Week award for the week ending July 6, 2014, when he was 11-for-18 for the week.

The Boulders begin a home series with the Garden State Grays on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Provident Bank Park in Pomona, N.Y. That game, like all Can-Am League games, will be available live and for free at www.canamleague.tv.
