Mallards Trade Bassett to Otters

Moline, IL-Quad City Mallards President and General Manager Howard Cornfield today announced that forward Cole Bassett has been traded to the Missouri River Otters in exchange for cash considerations and a 2nd round pick in the 2005 North American Amateur Draft.

Bassett is in his second season of pro hockey. He did not appear in a Mallards game this season.

Bassett appeared in 20 UHL games last year split between the Mallards and the River Otters. Bassett was held scoreless in seven Quad City appearances before being traded to the Otters. In 13 Missouri games in 2003-04, Bassett had a pair of goals and six assists for eight points.

The Mallards return to the ice tonight in Muskegon. Quad City will be looking to avenge a 4-1 loss to the Fury the last time the teams met. The First Capital Financial Pre-Game Show starts at 6:05 p.m. on WFXN AM 1230 with a 6:30 p.m. faceoff. After the game, stay tuned to the Allstate Insurance Del Newton/ Christy Cox Post-Game Show.

The Mallards return home on Saturday, November 6 to face the Danbury Trashers. It's Magnet Schedule Night presented by U.S. Cellular, Riverbend Home Mortgage and Q 106. It's also soccer night as the Mallards welcome FC Dallas' Bobby Rhine and U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist Carla Overbeck. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at The MARK on Saturday.
