Mallards Take the First of Two Against Kokomo

Madison, WI - The Mallards earned their 13th win of the season with a 7-3 victory over the Kokomo Jackrabbits at home tonight. With the win, the Ducks move to one game under .500 ahead of another home matchup on Sunday.

Mallards right hander Beau Nichols earned his first win of the season. Nichols final stat line was: 5 IP, 3 ER, 2H, 4K. All of Kokomo's runs came on a second inning home run off the bat of Luke Hanson. Aside from the early runs, Nichols settled in and handled the Kokomo lineup before turning the ball over to Trent Hodgdon, who went two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. He was followed by right hander Bryce Woody, who also went two scoreless innings and recorded six strikeouts.

Madison got after opposing pitcher Reece Marley (L, 0-2) early in this one, putting two runs on the board in the second and third innings. The Mallards offense was led by Christian Rivera, who went 3-4, 1 HR, 3 RBI and 1 run scored. The lead was bolstered by RBI's from Josh Caron, Noah Smith and J.T. Mabry.

The Mallards have now completed three games out of their four-game homestand. Madison has another matchup Sunday versus Kokomo at home before heading to Rockford on Monday night. Coverage can be found on the Northwoods League website under the 'Live Action' tab at 4:05 PM.
