
Mallards Sign Nagtzaam to Tryout Agreement

MOLINE, Ill. (October 11, 2015) - The Quad City Mallards have signed forward Nardo Nagtzaam to a tryout agreement, the Mallards announced today.
Nagtzaam, 25, joins the Mallards after previously skating in the Wheeling Nailers' training camp. A native of Nijmegen in the Netherlands, Nagtzaam turned professional at the end of last season with the Elmira Jackals, for whom he played five games and scored two goals. Last season also saw the 6' 0", 185-pound Nagtzaam score four times and add six assists for ten points in 19 games as a senior at Mercyhurst College.
Nagtzaam scored 27 goals, picked up 43 assists and totaled 70 points in 96 career collegiate games. In 2013-14 he helped Mercyhurst claim the Atlantic Hockey regular season title for the first time.
Before arriving at Mercyhurst, Nagtzaam spent three seasons in the junior ranks with the Alaska Avalanche and Alexandria Blizzard of the North American Hockey League. In 2010-11 he finished tied for the NAHL lead in assists (51), ranked second in points (87) and finished fourth in goals (36) while propelling Alexandria to a division title.
Nagtzaam has represented the Netherlands in each of the last two International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships.
Nagtzaam and the Mallards travel to Indianapolis for a preseason game against the Indy Fuel today at 2:05 p.m. The Mallards will begin their nineteenth regular season- and their second in the ECHL- on the road against the defending champion Allen Americans on Friday, October 16 before returning to the Quad Cities to play their home opener on Friday, October 23 at 7:05 p.m. against the Tulsa Oilers. The home opener will also bring a postgame fireworks show outside the iWireless Center and return of $1 Dog/$1 Beer Friday presented by 97X. In addition, Every Friday game will also be a MetroLINK College Night this season. Â The Mallards have once again partnered with Metro to provide transit service between Augustana College and downtown Moline during all Friday home games. As part of Metro's unlimited ride program, Augustana riders can use their Augustana ID as their fare.
Single game tickets for all Mallards regular season games- including the home opener- are on sale now at the iWireless Center box office, Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000. The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available for $10, $16, $20 and $28.
