
Mallards' Russo Granted Leave by CHL; Netminder Expected to Miss One Game

MOLINE, Ill. (February 15, 2011)- The Quad City Mallards of the Central Hockey League today announced that goaltender Adam Russo has been granted leave by the CHL and that the team has signed goaltender Justin Grant.
Russo, who goes on leave because of a family illness, will miss the Mallards' game in Dayton against the Gems Thursday evening, but is expected to return in time for the Mallards' Friday night match-up with the Bloomington PrairieThunder at the i wireless Center.
Russo has gone 12-6-0 with a 2.60 goals against average, a .927 save percentage and one shutout in 19 games this season.
Grant, 29, joins the Mallards for the second time this season. The Burlington, Iowa, native suited up as backup netminder- but did not see any action- in the Mallards' October 29 game against Fort Wayne. Grant played briefly in the All American Hockey League last season with the Madison Ice Muskies and two years ago for the Evansville IceMen.
After returning from Thursday's date with Dayton, the Flock will take to the ice at home both on Friday evening against the PrairieThunder and on Saturday night against the Fort Wayne Komets. Both of those games will face off at 7:05 p.m. This weekend is also Alumni Weekend presented by WQAD News 8, 97X and *The Dispatch and Rock Island Argus- *former Mallards will be welcomed back to the i wireless Center on both Friday and Saturday nights.

The ticket office is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. until the end of the first period.
