
Mallards Rally Past Port Huron 4-3

PORT HURON, MI - Jacques Perreault scored the game winning power play goal with 6:17 left in the third period as the Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, rallied to defeat the host Port Huron Icehawks 4-3 Friday night.
Perreault scored the third Quad City power play goal of the night from the high slot to break the deadlock after a tip-in by the Mallards' Obi Aduba's had evened to score at three at 9:05 of the third period.
Quad City earlier in the evening had twice trailed by two goals. The Mallards were on the power play when Brandon Marino scored from point blank range to cut what had been a 2-0 Icehawk lead in half at 4:53 of the second period. The Icehawks would push the gap back to two just under three minutes later when Nick Lindberg converted Brandon Naurato's centering pass. With just over a minute left in the second the Mallards again used the power play to pull within one as Justin White charged into the slot to snap Juris Stals's feed past Port Huron goaltender Adam Russo.
The Icehawks got the early jump on the Mallards with a pair of first period goals. Tab Lardner skated in alone shorthanded to openethe scoring at 6:45 of the first. Port Huron doubled the lead when Matt Maccarone buried a rebound at th 11:58 mark.
The Mallards will visit the Dayton Gems tomorrow evening before returning home to take on the Bloomington PrairieThunder Sunday evening at the special rescheduled start time of 5:30 p.m. Sunday's game time was changed to accommodate the Olympic men's hockey gold medal game featuring the the United States earlier in the afternoon. The Quad City Sports Commission has teamed with the Mallards to make walkup tickets to the Mallards' game purchased at the i wireless Center ticket office available for just $1 if Team USA wins gold Sunday afternoon. If the U.S. team wins silver, walkup tickets will be available for $2. Hot dogs will be available for just $1.50 at i wireless Center concession stands during Sunday's game.
