
Mallards Lead South Division to Victory

Madison, Wis. - The South Division defeated the North Division 2-1 in the 2018 Northwoods League All-Star Game in Kalamazoo, Michigan on Tuesday night. The Mallards had a league-leading eight players featured in the game and a handful of them made strong contributions in the victory. Mallards outfielder Jake Randa (NW Florida State) collected a pair of doubles and knocked in the game's first run in the sixth inning. Mallards hitters combined to go 3-for-10 at the plate and Madison pitchers worked 1.2 innings and did not allow a single hit.
Mallards in Action
- Second baseman Trevor Schwecke (UW-Milwaukee) went 1-for-3 at the plate and drew a walk while also scoring one of the South Division's two runs
- Outfielder Drew Campbell (Louisville) was hitless through his two plate appearances
- Jake Randa led the South side with two-hits and collected one of only three RBIs in the ballgame.
- David Vinsky (Northwood) saw one plate appearance but did not reach base. Vinsky contributed to two outs in the field. The South Division did not make a single error in the game.
- Tyler Plantier (Richmond) was hitless against the North's best pitchers but added an assist in the field
- Carson Ragsdale (South Florida) and Trace Norkus(North Florida) both worked 0.2 scoreless frames, Norkus tallied one strikeout
- Dalton Wiggins (Marietta) came in to get the game's final out in the top of the ninth inning, inducing a lineout to end the ballgame and earn the save.

The Mallards will return to the Duck Pond after the All-Star break on July 26 to take on the Rockford Rivets at 7:05 PM.
