Quad City Mallards News Release

Hockey for Helping Hands:

The Mallards are proud to announce a new program in partnership with local police, fire, and sheriff departments. Hockey for Helping Hands is an initiative designed to recognize good samaritans in our community. Policemen, firefighters, and sheriff deputies will carry Mallards ticket vouchers in their vehicles and distribute them at their discretion upon seeing good deeds. The intent of the program is to reward behavior that often goes unnoticed. Departments have been contacted and vouchers will be distributed in the upcoming weeks to those participating.

Fall Update:

Team President Chris Presson is participating in the annual Muscular Dystrophy Association Lock-Up October 13. As one of the most wanted leaders in the community, Mr. Presson will go behind bars to support the organization. The Mallards are proud to contribute to the efforts of the MDA, and funds are being raised to bail Mr. Presson out of jail in time for the Mallards' opening night October 16.

The Mallards continue to make donations to local causes and charitable organizations. New recipients include: Take the Plunge- a DubStar fundraiser for the Special Olympics, Time for Tots, the Howard Wolcott Benefit, Cordova Junior Rams Football, American Home Finding Association's Harvest Moon Masquerade Ball, USBC Youth Bowling Association, Junior Diabetes Research Foundation, the Jared Belk Benefit, NAMI (National Association of Mental Illness), Pleasant View's Winterfest Fundraiser Auction, the Chuck and Charleen Downs Benefit, and the Arlt Fire Fundraiser.

Mascot Mo Mallard has also been active in the community, making appearances at local events to meet and socialize with fans. Last weekend Mo traveled to Orion for the annual Orion Fall Festival. This fall, Mo also made appearances at the Davenport Parks and Recreation Back to School Bash, Moline Centre Main Street's Strut your Mutt event, the grand opening of River's Edge, QCHA Registration Day, and Floatzilla.

Looking forward:

This will be the first chance for fans to see the Mallards in game action before the inaugural CHL season. All tickets are general admission for $8 and go on sale October 4. Season ticket holders get in free.

As proud new members of the "AA" Central Hockey League, the Mallards look to open their season Saturday, October 16, 2010 against the Odessa Jackalopes. The game starts at 7:05 pm at the i wireless Center in Moline.
