Moline, IL-A intrastate rivalry got much hotter on Saturday night at The MARK. The Mallards fell 6-3 to the Rockford IceHogs, but the Ducks served notice that no team will muscle them around this season. The teams combined for 139 penalty minutes including 82 by the Mallards.

Goal scorers for Quad City included rookie Mike Kompon, Jonathan Gagnon and Marty Standish. Kompon's shorthanded marker in the first period tied the game at one. The Hogs stormed out of the gate in the third scoring three times before Marty Standish answered with 3:47 left in the game to set the final at 6-3.
