Quad City Mallards News Release

Moline, Ill. (December 27, 2009) - The host Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, Sunday defeated the Bloomington PrairieThunder 3-1 as Quad City goaltender Kyle Jones made 32 saves, Mike Zbriger and Patrick Levesque both provided a goal and an assist and Brandon Marino scored what proved to be the game winner.

The Mallards grabbed the game's first goal when Zbriger buried a rebound at 3:59 of the first period.

With just under two minutes left in the second period Marino doubled the lead with a drive from the high slot.

The Mallards endured a few anxious moments late in regulation after Cole Ruwe charged into the goal mouth to convert Jon Booras's centering feed and cut the gap to 2-1 at 15:14 of the third period, but Levesque put the game away by scoring an empty net power play goal with just over 11 seconds remaining.

After visiting Port Huron Tuesday night and Flint Wednesday evening, the Mallards return home on New Year's Eve- this Thursday, December 31- to take on the Muskegon Lumberjacks at the special time of 6:05 p.m. and, as the game will start just after midnight London time, the Mallards will also ring in the New Year in British style that evening. While the evening will carry that English flavor as the Flock puts on the Quad Cities' only British New Years' celebration, one element of Thursday night's festivities will remain all-American as the team will provide free Mallards baseball caps to the first 1,000 fans through the doors.

Tickets for Thursday night's game and all remaining regular season Mallards home games are available at the i wireless Center box office, Ticketmaster outlets and www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000. The box office is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. through the end of the second period.
