Quad City Mallards News Release
Moline, IL â The Quad City Mallards upped their play significantly in Game Two of the Western Conference Semifinals, but Sylvain Daigle was red hot in the net for Muskegon and defeated Quad City 2-1. The Mallards got another goal from Rob Voltera â his second of the playoffs â but it was not enough for the Ducks, who made a furious attempt at a comeback.
The Fury got both of their goals in the final three minutes of the first period and took a 2-0 lead into the second. Petr Suchanek and Scott Hollis each scored their first goal of the playoffs late in the period for the Fury.
But the Mallards were energized in the second period by a five-minute major and game misconduct for spearing assessed to Muskegon's leading scorer, Robin Bouchard. The Mallards were able to get the goal by Voltera, assisted by Dylan Mills and Jason Goulet, but were unable to add a second power play tally.
The Mallards continued their pressure throughout the second, peppering Daigle with 21 shots in the period, but only putting one home. The Mallards added 11 more shots in the third, but were unable to find the back of the net, as Daigle (38 saves) turned them aside again and again. Jeff Reynaert made 20 saves in the loss.
The Mallards now will try to stave off elimination at Muskegon, where Game Three and Game Four will be played. Game Three will be on Saturday at 6:30 p.m., and Game Four will come Sunday at 4 p.m. Both games will be on WOC 1420.
Tickets to all Mallards home games are on sale at The MARK box office, at all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at (563) 326-1111, and online by following the Tickets link at www.qcmallards.com.
