Quad City Mallards News Release

Moline, IL-The Quad City Mallards announced today that right wing Carlyle Lewis has been signed for the 2006-07 season. The team acquired Lewis' rights in the UHL Dispersal Draft after he completed the season with the now defunct Roanoke Valley Vipers.

Lewis is a 6-foot-3, 234-pound right wing that split last season between Roanoke Valley and the Danbury Trashers. In 51 UHL games last year, Lewis scored 24 points (10 goals and 14 assists) and recorded 231 penalty minutes. He also recorded a UHL season-high 14 game penalty minute streak. During the streak, Lewis recorded 107 penalty minutes.

Lewis comes to the Quad Cities with 447 games of professional hockey experience over a seven-year career. He has 71 career goals with 93 assists for 164 points. He has 1,521 penalty minutes during his pro career. The 28-year old winger has appeared in 166 American Hockey League games with the Albany River Rats and Portland Pirates. He has two AHL goals with 10 assists for 12 points with 400 penalty minutes.

The Middleton, Nova Scotia native spent the 2003-04 season in Columbus (ECHL) under Mallards General Manager and Head Coach Brian Curran. Lewis recorded career highs in goals (21) and points (39) during his campaign with Curran.

"It's exciting to get a chance to work with Carlyle again," said Curran. "Obviously, he made an impression while I coached him in Columbus. He is a big man who can score and plays a physical game. He will make a big impact on our 2006-07 team."

"We were very excited to have the chance to take him in the Dispersal Draft," said Mallards President Tim Taylor. "He brings a physical element that our fans will love. He can score, but he also has the ability to crash and bang and stand up for his teammates."
