Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release

TORONTO, ON - It was regular season home-opener for the Toronto St. Michael' s Majors this evening and they delivered a solid win. After trading goals with the Mississauga IceDogs for the first half of the game, the Majors pulled ahead and never looked back, eventually winning 5-2.

The IceDogs got on the board first as Stefan Legein registered a shorthanded goal 3:29 into the game with the lone assist going to Dustin Jeffreys. Tyler Donati responded for the Majors three minutes later on the power-play, with the helpers getting credited to Scott Lehman and rookie Matt Caria.

The same theme occurred in the 2nd period as Jordan Owens put Mississauga out in front, with a power-play goal at 2:52, off of Michael Swift and Justin Dacosta feeds. Yet, the Majors replied under 4 minutes later as Peter Franchin notched a goal on the man-advantage, with both Donati brothers providing support. From there on, it was all Majors as Cory Vitarelli registered the team's 3rd power-play goal of the night at 14:13 (assists to Caria and Lehman) before Justin Donati (shorthanded) and Lehman (empty-net) added unassisted goals in the 3rd period.

Both goaltenders had solid outings as Justin Peters made 29 saves for the Majors and Michael Ouzas turned aside 40 shots for the IceDogs. Toronto finished the night 3 for 13 on the power-play while Mississauga was 1 for 11. The game's three stars were Justin Donati (1st), Tyler Donati (2nd) and Ouzas (3rd).
