Majors Shutout by Rangers

TORONTO, ON — In a game reminiscent of their 1-0 home loss to the Belleville Bulls a week-and-a-half ago, the Toronto St. Michael's Majors were beaten 2-0 by the Kitchener Rangers this afternoon. With the loss, the Majors record slips to 4-4-2-1.

A Majors turnover produced the first Rangers goal at 15:22 of the opening frame, off the stick of Craig Voakes. The assists were credited to Andre Benoit and Adam Keefe. Their insurance marker came at 8:16 of the 3rd period, on the power-play, when Paul McFarland connected off of Voakes and Patrick Davis feeds. Overall, the Rangers outshot the Majors 31-25.

Justin Peters was in between the pipes for the Majors and produced a solid effort, while the Rangers countered with Carlo DiRienzo, who was also very strong. The game's three stars were Voakes (1st), DiRienzo (2nd) and Peters (3rd). The Majors ended the day 0 for 10 on the power-play with the Rangers going 1 for 8.

The Majors next action will be Friday evening (October 22nd), at 7:30 pm when they travel to Erie to face the Otters. Then, they will return home to host the Mississauga IceDogs on Sunday, October 24th, at 2:00 pm. The latter contest will be available on Rogers television in the Toronto region (channel 10 or 63) while both will be webcast at www.stmichaelsmajors.com.
