Majors Shutout by Generals

Oshawa, Ont. (Wednesday, March 14, 2007) - The St. Michael's Majors were shutout by the Oshawa Generals this evening, 5-0. Generals forwards Dale Mitchell and Brett Parnham carried over their fine play from last week's 13-3 defeat of the Majors, combining for another seven points on this night. As a result, the Majors record shifts to 20-41-3-3 on the year.

Brett MacLean got the scoring started for the Generals, with a power-play marker at 7:31 of the 1st period off of John Tavares and James DeLory feeds. Then, Parnham collected a natural hat trick, with a power-play goal at 9:39 of the 1st, a shorthanded tally at 5:47 of the middle frame and an even-strength marker less than three minutes later. The helpers on these goals went to Mitchell (2), Igor Gongalsky and Peter Aston.

The final Oshawa goal came from Mitchell with one second left in the game, off of Parnham and Gongalsky support.

Chris Carrozzi finished the night with 42 saves for the Majors while Loic Lacasse turned aside 17 shots for the Generals. The Majors were 0 for 11 on the power-play while the Generals were 2 for 11. The game's three stars were Parnham (1st), Cal Clutterbuck (2nd) and Lacasse (3rd).

The Majors finish the season by hosting the Belleville Bulls on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. This game will be Fan Appreciation Day and numerous on and off-ice activities are planned, including a pre-game, free fan barbecue and an on-ice, team autograph session after the contest.
