Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release

Sudbury, Ont. (September 29, 2006) - The St. Michael's Majors couldn't get their power-play in gear against the Sudbury Wolves this evening, and it ended up costing them. The Wolves finished the night with 4 goals on the man-advantage while the Majors had none. As a result, Sudbury was victorious by a 6-0 count.

Sudbury provided all of the necessary damage during the opening two frames, outshooting the Majors 29-13 and receiving goals from Nick Foligno, Adam McQuaid, Patrick Lusnak, Jesse Messier and Kevin Baker. Only the Lusnak tally didn't come on the man-advantage. Baker then finished off the scoring into an empty-net with 25 seconds left in the game, after the Majors had outshot the Wolves 14-7 in the 3rd period.

The Wolves assists were credited to Lusnak, Foligno, McQuaid, Akim Aliu (3), Jakub Korinek, Kyle Tarini, Matt Dias, Jonathan D'Aversa and Ryan Crouch. Wayne Savage played the entire game between the pipes for St. Mike's while Kevin Beech was in net for the Wolves. The game's three stars were Beech, McQuaid and Foligno.

The Majors try to exact revenge on their Central Division rivals on Sunday afternoon when they welcome the Wolves to St. Michael's College School Arena at 2 pm. The Majors will be conducting a food drive, in advance of Thanksgiving, this Sunday and next Thursday (October 5). Fans are encouraged to drop-off cans of food to the box provided in the arena's front lobby. They will then be donated to a local group in need.

Majors flex and season ticket packages can be purchased through the team's office at 416-651-8228. Individual game tickets are also available through the Majors, and by calling Ticketmaster at 416-872-5000, online at www.ticketmaster.ca or by stopping by the St. Michael's College School Arena box office within two hours of the puck drop.
