Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release

TORONTO, ON — The Toronto St. Michael's Majors were beaten 5-0 by a hungry, energetic Windsor Spitfires' squad this evening at the St. Michael's College School Arena. With the loss, the Majors' record now sits at 22-17-4-1.

The Spitfires got the ball rolling early as John Scott Dickson tallied at 3:17 of the 1st period off feeds from Craig Kennedy and David Bowman. They added another at 17:13 of the opening frame when Brett Liscomb notched his 7th goal of the campaign with assists going to Steve Downie and Jason Dixon.

The 2nd period was more or less the same as the 1st as Jeff Leavitt and Dixon struck for the Spitfires at 2:26 and 19:06. Assists on these two tallies went to Vadim Karaga, Justin Coutu, Iain McPhee and Bowman. Then, Karaga put on the finishing touch with just under three minutes to play in the game off a feed from Dixon. All five of their goals came at even-strength.

Matt Anthony put together a strong performance between the pipes for Windsor as they were outshot 34-30 by the home squad. He also received a bit of luck as Majors' players rang 4-5 shots off posts throughout the game. Michael Ouzas got the start for Toronto and made 25 stops of his own. The Majors ended up going 0/7 on the power-play for the night. The game's three stars were Dixon (1st), Bowman (2nd) and Anthony (3rd).

The kids' activities in the parking lot will get started at 12:00 pm while the silent auction in the lounge will get underway at 1:00 pm.
