Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release
TORONTO â Ryan Rorabeck's power-play goal at 7:22 of the second period gave the
Toronto St. Michael's Majors a 1-1 tie with the Peterborough Petes in Ontario Hockey
League action Sunday afternoon at St. Michael's College School Arena.
It was the second tie in as many games for the Majors on their opening weekend, as
Toronto rallied from a three-goal deficit Friday night to tie the Barrie Colts 3-3
in the home opener.
The Majors fell behind again on Sunday, as the Petes scored the lone goal of the
first period on a power-play marker by Patrick Kaleta at the 6:00 mark. That goal
held up until Rorabeck back-handed a shot past Peterborough goalie Eero Kipelanin on
a Toronto power-play to tie the score in the second period for what turned out to be
the lone Toronto goal.
Both goalies were solid, as Kipelanin made 30 saves to earn first star honours while
Peters made 28 saves and was the game's second star for Toronto.
Peters was especially sharp in the second period, when the Petes fired 13 shots at
him and had several good scoring chances. Peterborough is now 0-1-1-1 under veteran
coach Dick Todd to start the season.
Toronto out-shot Peterborough 31-29, but the Petes held an 8-6 shots advantage in
the third period. Neither team could muster a serious scoring chance in the
five-minute overtime, with both teams managing three shots on goal.
Majors are back in action with a pair of road games this week, starting Wednesday
night in Owen Sound at 7:30. Toronto then travels to Oshawa for a game with the
Generals Friday at 7:30 p.m. before returning home to face the Ottawa 67's Sunday,
Oct. 3 at 2 p.m.
Tickets for all Majors home games are available on-line at www.ticketmaster.ca and
at the arena box office during regular business hours. All games, home and away, can
