Majors Players Honoured Among Coaches Poll Winners

Mississauga, ON - Each season, OHL coaches are provided with the opportunity to recognize players within their own conference in various skill categories. The top three players in each category in both conferences are recognized. The Majors are pleased to announce that a handful of their players were acknowledged!

Captain Jesse Messier was a multiple winner as he captured the Eastern Conference's Most Underrated Player (22 points) category and finished third for Best Defensive Forward (15 points).

Also, forward Kaspars Daugavins finished second in the Eastern Conference's Hardest Shot category with 17 points. And, rookie winger Zac Rinaldo tied for third for Best Body Checker with 10 points.

Players receive five points for a first-place vote, three points for a second-place vote and one point for a third-place vote. Coaches aren't allowed to vote for players on their own team.

Mississauga's first round playoff series against Niagara begins tomorrow night in St. Catharines at 7:30 p.m. The teams will return to the Hershey Centre for game #2 on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.

Majors playoff tickets can be purchased through the Hershey Centre box office during regular business hours, two hours prior to the puck drop on weekend game-days or by logging on to the Majors web site (www.stmichaelsmajors.com).
