Opening Banquet & CHL Awards Highlight

Tuesday, March 18, 2008 - Canada's top four major junior hockey teams - participants in the 2008 MasterCard Memorial Cup - will be on hand as the Memorial Cup's Opening Banquet is held on Thursday, May 15th at St. George Hall in Waterloo.

In addition to the team introductions, the evening will feature a welcoming reception and silent auction that will begin at 5:30 pm. A plated dinner will be served beginning at 6:30 pm, and the program will feature a variety of special guests including representatives from the Canadian Hockey League, sponsors, levels of government and volunteers. The Master of Ceremonies for the evening is popular speaker, actor and former broadcast executive and radio personality Neil Aitchison.

"We're extremely excited about the Banquet", says Banquet Committee Chair Bethan Llewellyn. "The top junior hockey players in Canada mixed with great food and world class entertainment will make for an evening that will be truly "Beyond the Ordinary".

Limited tickets are available through the Memorial Cup Office [519.576.3700] and at Kitchener Rangers games in the north concourse. Tickets are $125/person and $1,000 for a table of eight.

Kitchener's Centre-In-The-Square will host the CHL Awards presented by Rogers Blackberry on Saturday, May 24th. The top performers from the Canadian Hockey League will be recognized for their outstanding accomplishments during the 2007/2008 season. Doors will open at 11:30 am. with the Program - hosted by Rob Faulds of Rogers Sportsnet - beginning at 12:30 pm.

Tickets will be available through the Centre-In-The-Square Box Office. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
