Majors Outmuscle Wolves, Win 5-1

Mississauga ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors continued their homestand this afternoon, as they took on the Sudbury Wolves and dominated the contest to defeat the visitors 5-1. The Majors outshot the Wolves 49-21. As a result, Mississauga is on a five-game winning streak, as their record climbs to 31-22-1-2 on the season.

Jordan Mayer put the Majors up 1-0 early, as he connected 2:30 into the 1st period off of passes from Dustin Ekelman and Blake Parlett. The shots on goal were 19-6, in favour of Mississauga.

William Wallén wired a shot into the Wolves' net 42 seconds into the 2nd period on a man-advantage to make it 2-1. Casey Cizikas and Devante Smith-Pelly got the assists. Mayer got another tally shortly after at 5:25 for the Majors, with help from Kaspars Daugavins and Brett Flemming. Then, Sudbury was on the board with Kyle Tarini's goal, coming with only 13 seconds left in the frame. Jake Cardwell provided the lone feed.

In the 3rd period, Jared Gomes and Mike Pelech each got a goal at 16:55 and at 19:44, respectively, to put the Majors up 5-1 to take the win. The assists went to Matt Russo, Daugavins, Parlett and Kyle Neuber.

JP Anderson started in net for the Majors and blocked 20 shots, while Andrew Loverock made 44 saves for the Wolves. Mississauga went 1 for 5 on the power-play, while Sudbury closed out 0 for 5. The stars were Mayer (1st), Wallén (2nd) and Cizikas (3rd).

The Majors Family Day game takes place this Monday afternoon when the Brampton Battalion visits the Hershey Centre at 1 p.m. It will also be Scouts Day at the game, as they celebrate Lord Baden Powell's birthday! Popular cartoon characters including Diego, Dora the Explorer, Spongebob Squarepants and Patrick will be available for a Meet and Greet with fans from 12-1 p.m., prior to the start of the game.
