Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release


Oshawa, ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors closed out the weekend with a tilt against the Oshawa Generals, and defeated the home team 4-2 this afternoon. As a result, Mississauga's record moves to 33-24-1-2 on the season.

There was no scoring in the 1st period, while the Majors were outshot 9-7 by the Generals.

Mississauga's Kale Kerbashian connected 2:39 into the 2nd period off of passes from Kaspars Daugavins and Cameron Gaunce to get things started. William Wallén's goal coming at 7:09 got the Majors ahead 2-0, while the sole assist went to Daugavins. Then, the visitors were back on the board when Kyle Neuber scored shortly after at 9:42, on an unassisted play. Oshawa's Brett Parnham replied at 18:12 (power-play) with help from Calvin de Haan and Kory Nagy to make it 3-1, heading into intermission.

The Generals got another tally as Jeff Brown wired the puck into the Majors net 13:33 on a man-advantage in the 3rd period with help from Tony DeHart and Nagy. Jared Gomes' empty-net marker, coming with only 52 seconds left in the frame, put the game away for Mississauga. Corey Bureau and Daugavins provided the feeds.

Chris Carrozzi started in net and made 26 saves for the Majors, while Michael Zador also blocked 26 shots for the Generals. Mississauga went 0 for 3 on the power-play, while Oshawa finished 2 for 7. Nagy (1st), Daugavins (2nd) and Wallén (3rd) were the stars of today's game.

Mississauga visits the Niagara IceDogs this Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. Then, they return home to host the Belleville Bulls on the following evening at 7:30 p.m. and the Barrie Colts on Sunday afternoon (March 1) at 2 p.m. All Majors road games are available via webcast at www.stmichaelsmajors.com.
