Belleville Bulls News Release

Belleville Bulls forward Cory Tanaka set the OHL record for most career regular season games played when he suited up for the 329th time in a 3-2 victory over the Brampton Battalion on Sunday afternoon. Tanaka broke the record of 328 games played held by former Bull Cody Thornton.

Tanaka is in his fifth season after beginning his OHL career with the Plymouth Whalers in 2004. He was acquired by the Bulls in a trade during the 2005-2006 season. The Stouffville, Ontario native has missed just three games during his entire OHL career with Belleville and Plymouth.

This season, Tanaka has set a new career high with 15 goals while adding 29 assists in 59 games played with Belleville. The overage centre has recorded 53 goals and 112 assists while adding 217 penalty minutes during his OHL career. Tanaka has also added 13 goals and 27 points in 46 career playoff games.

The Bulls will honour Tanaka for his achievement prior to their game on Wednesday, February 25th versus the Oshawa Generals.
