Mississauga, ON- The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors made their official presentation to the selection committee on Wednesday for the rights to host the 2011 MasterCard Memorial Cup.

The Majors and the City of Mississauga were represented by Majors Owner Eugene Melnyk, Ottawa Senators President Cyril Leeder, Majors Executive Vice-President Duncan Stauth, and General Manager/Head Coach Dave Cameron. Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion was also part of the presentation. The team made their presentation to the selection committee consisting of: President of the Toronto Blue Jays and former CEO of Major League Baseball Paul Beeston, former NHL Executive Frank Bonello, Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations for the NHL Jim Gregory and NHL Director of Central Scouting EJ McGuire. CHL and OHL Commissioner David Branch and OHL Legal Counsel Gord Kirke were also on hand for the presentations.

"If we are successful we know it will be a memorable tournament for everyone involved" said Majors Executive Vice-President Duncan Stauth. "We feel this would be a great opportunity for our organization and a great reward for our fans and the city of Mississauga" added Stauth.

One important component in the process is the level of competitiveness of the team and Stauth feels that is a strong point for the Majors. "The number of players eligible to return next season is proof that we will have a very competitive hockey club. Not only do we want to host the Memorial Cup but we want to be there as OHL champions."

This year's MasterCard Memorial Cup will be taking place in Brandon, Manitoba from May 14-23 hosted by the Brandon Wheat Kings.
