Majors Make It Three In A Row

Erie, PA- The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors were looking to head into the Christmas break with three victories in three straight days. Two thirds of the plan is now complete as the Majors defeated the Erie Otters, 3-1 tonight at the Tullio Arena. The win moves Mississauga to 24-6-3-1 on the season.

The Majors found themselves down just 28 seconds into the game when Greg McKegg put the Otters ahead. Mississauga responded with two power play goals under three minutes apart courtesy of Joseph Cramarossa and William Wallen to give the Majors a 2-1 lead and that's how it would stay until late in the second period when Dustin Ekelman's backhander gave the Majors a 3-1 lead to close the first forty minutes.

The third period was delayed ten minutes due to an ice issue. When the play began, Mississauga supplied a much higher aggressive style as they were clearly winning the physical battle and were able to shutdown the Otters. A scrum erupted behind the Otters net after the whistle late in the third, putting the Otters on their fourth power play of the night. True to form the Majors shut it down once again and finished the game.

Chris Carrozzi made 13 saves and records his thirteenth win of the season. Otters goaltender Jaroslav Janus made 24 saves in a losing effort. Rob Flick had two assists on both Majors power play goals in the first period.

The Majors will now return home and host their heated rivals, the Niagara IceDogs tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Following the game the Majors will head to the Christmas break and will not play again until Wednesday December 30 at home against the Brampton Battlion.
