
Majors Lose to the Petes

Peterborough, ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors traveled to Peterborough for a tilt with the Petes this evening, and were unfortunately downed 3-1. The Majors had outshot the Petes by a count of 43-23 in tonight's match-up. As a result, Mississauga's record moves to 26-22-1-2 on the season.
Mississauga was off to a quick start, as Jared Gomes wired a shot into Peterborough's net on a man-advantage with only 2:09 into the 1st period, off of feeds from Jordan Mayer and Mike Pelech, to put the Majors ahead 1-0 . The Majors had outshot the Petes 14-4 in the frame.
Peterborough came back with a couple of goals in the 2nd period to make it 2-1. Ryan Spooner connected at 3:31 with assists coming from Zach Tatrn and Jeff Braithwaite. Then, Zack Kassian ended the frame off with his tally coming at 11:51 (power-play). Derek Holden and Braithwaite were the helpers.
Unfortunately, the contest concluded with the Petes grabbing a 3-1 win, when Tony Romano scored 3:20 (power-play) into the 3rd period to round out the frame. Jamie Doornbosch and Justin Larson provided the passes.
Chris Carrozzi started in net and turned aside 8 shots for the Majors, while JP Anderson took over midway through the 2nd period and made 12 stops of his own. Ryan Daniels made 42 saves for the Petes. Mississauga went 1 for 3 on the power-play, while Peterborough finished 2 for 5 on the night. The game's three stars were Daniels (1st), Spooner (2nd) and Kassian (3rd).
Mississauga will host the Petes tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. and the Saginaw Spirit on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
The Majors present Paint The Rink Pink 2 on February 13 in partnership with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation for the second consecutive season when they host the Barrie Colts at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds from tickets, sales and in-arena donations of that night will go toward the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Highlights of the evening will include an on-ice pre-game ceremony with Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion. There wil be pink jerseys worn by Majors players, a silent auction in the week following the game, pink paraphernalia and of course, pink ice.
