Plymouth Whalers News Release
PLYMOUTH - The Ontario Hockey League's Plymouth Whalers (24-22-5-0, seventh seed in Western Conference) continue their chase for playoff seeding with a pair of home games this weekend at Compuware Arena.
On Friday, Plymouth brings in the Owen Sound Attack (20-19-6-5) at 7:05pm. The Whalers have beaten the Attack in the only other games played between the two teams so far this year. Although they'll be plenty of action to watch on the ice, the Whalers are encouraging fans to wear red in a promotion for the Go Red for Women campaign. The Whalers are teaming up with the American Heart Association to show that "Hockey has Heart" and try to wipe out heart disease in women. The game is sponsored by Greektown Casino-Hotel, Hines Park Lincoln Mercury, and Meijer.
On Saturday - between Noon and 2pm - several Whalers will be working as waiters at Leo's Coney Island in Plymouth, on Ann Arbor Road just west of Haggerty.
On Saturday night, Plymouth hosts the top team in the Eastern Conference, the Belleville Bulls (34-14-2-2) at 7:05pm. The game is part of the Whalers' Youth Hockey Weekend. Youth teams are encouraged to come to the game and see the future stars of the NHL. Youth teams of all kinds will get a discount if they can bring their respective teams to the game.
Tickets - including group rates - can be purchased by calling the Compuware Box Office at (734) 453-8400.
