Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release

OWEN SOUND, ON — The offensive attack was firing on all cylinders for the Toronto St. Michael's Majors this evening in Owen Sound with Cory Vitarelli and Tim Brent acting as the catalysts. Vitarelli tied a modern-day, single-game team record with four goals and Brent added four assists as the Majors won 4-2.

Vitarelli got the team out of the gates early when he notched his 14th goal of the season 2:23 into the contest on the power-play; Brent and Ryan Rorabeck provided support. Then, he connected again at 4:38 and 9:34 of the middle frame, with the latter coming on the man-advantage once again. Assists on these two markers were provided by Brent (2), Nathan McIver and Dustin VanBallegooie.

Bobby Ryan got the home squad on the board with just under two minutes to play in the 2nd period when he collected his 21st goal of the year off feeds from Mike Angelidis and Jeff MacDermid. However, Vitarelli hadn't completely whetted his offensive appetite as he struck once again with two seconds to go in the period. Brent notched his 4th assist of the game on the play.

The Attack's Stefan Ruzicka provided a power-play marker with just under two minutes to play in the game, with assists going to Ryan and Mark Giordano. However, it was too little, too late for the home squad. Justin Peters got his 3rd consecutive start for the Majors and made 32 saves in the victory. Robert Gherson turned aside 22 for the Attack. The game's three stars were Vitarelli (1st), Brent (2nd) and Patrick Jarrett (3rd).

They will visit the Saginaw Spirit on Friday, January 30th (7:00 pm), the Plymouth Whalers on Saturday, January 31st (7:30 pm) and the Windsor Spitfires on Sunday, February 1st (2:00 pm).
