
Majors Edged 3-2 in Peterborough

Peterborough, ON - With five games down, the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors have closed off their pre-season schedule tonight with a tilt against the Peterborough Petes on the road.
While the Majors defeated the Petes this past Sunday in Oakville, the Majors - this time as the visiting squad - were edged 3-2. As a result the Majors exhibition record concludes at 3-1-1.
The home team kicked things off with a pair of power-play goals in the 1st period. Adam Sedlak opened up the scoring at 1:06 while Ryan Spooner and Jamie Doornbosch picked up the assists. Then, Brett Theberge put Peterborough up 2-0 with a tally coming at 13:51. The helpers were Matt Puempel and Derek Holden.
In the 2nd period Mississauga was on the board, answering back with two goals to knot the game. Devanté Smith-Pelly (on a man-advantage) and Joseph Cramarossa (unassisted) each connected at 3:45 and then at 14:32, respectively. Blake Parlett and Casey Cizikas provided the feeds.
Justin Larson, a former Major himself, finished things off in the 3rd period, collecting the final goal for the Petes shorthanded at 4:12. The lone assist went to Spooner.
JP Anderson got the start between the pipes and made 39 saves for Mississauga, while Andrew D'Agostini blocked 22 shots for Peterborough.
Mississauga's regular season begins with a visit to the home of the Brampton Battalion on Friday, September 18 at 7:30 p.m. Home opener will take place on Friday, October 2 with a tilt against the Battalion at 7:30 p.m. A complete list of the Majors 2009-10 regular season schedule is available at the Majors website (www.stmichaelsmajors.com).
