SANFORD, ME - Austin Biggar's two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Sanford Mainers (18-12) a 5-4 victory over the Keene SwampBats (19-14) on Monday night at Goodall Park in Sanford.

In the bottom of the eighth, three walks loaded the bases with two away in the frame before Biggar (Georgia) delivered the go-ahead single.

Keene had taken the lead with three in the top of the eighth inning including an RBI single from Joe Breaux (Alabama) who later scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball and a throwing error charged to Biggar that gave the visitors a 4-3 lead for the time being.

RHP Justin Willis (Vanderbilt-0.2 IP, H, R, ER, 2 BB, 2 K) was dealt the loss for the SwampBats and falls to 3-2 on the summer. The other run in the eighth inning was charged to RHP Perez Nichols (Broward-1.1 IP, R, ER, BB, K).

LHP Sean Fisher (Maryland-0.2 IP) got the win for Sanford to improve to 1-0, while RHP Jack Weisenburger (Michigan-1.0 IP, H) got the final three outs to notch his team-leading fifth save.

The SwampBats grabbed an early 1-0 lead with a run in the first as Jacob Koos (Stetson) drew a leadoff walk, went to third on a single and scored on Brandon Smith's sac fly.

Smith's sac fly tied the franchise's single-season RBI record of 41 that was set by OF J.P. Sportman in 2012.

Tyler Solomon (Vanderbilt) tied the game at one apiece for Sanford with a solo shot in the second.

Solomon struck again with an RBI single in the fourth to give the hosts a 2-1 advantage.

In the home half of the fifth, Shane Marshall (Binghamton) reached with a one-out single and scored from first on Brad Czerniejewski's (Maryland) RBI double to extend the Mainers' lead to 3-1 for the time being.

Keene starter Colby Dunlop (UConn) surrendered three runs (two earned) on six hits while walking two and fanning six over 6.0 IP in a no-decision.

Sanford starter Ryan Twitchell (Rhode Island) gave up one run on one hit to go along with a walk and two strikeouts in 5.0 IP.

Cordell Dunn Jr. (Grayson College-2-4) had a multi-hit game for manager Lyndon Coleman's squad.

The SwampBats head to North Adams to battle the SteepleCats on Tuesday night. First pitch from Joe Wolfe Field is set for 6:30 p.m. and RHP Griff McGarry (3-1, 2.95) out of the University of Virginia will get the start.
