Birmingham Magicians News Release
Birmingham, AL. Dreams do come true is the message over 180 fifth graders received from Birmingham Magicians owner, Reginald McDaniel, this week at Central Park Elementary School in Birmingham, AL. McDaniel told the excited fifth graders to never stop believing in their dreams no matter what obstacles come their way. "I was very impressed with the kids at Central Park. They are a great group of kids and I believe it's important to present positive role models to kids in this age group to encourage them to strive for their dreams, no matter what their situation," McDaniel said.
McDaniel said he and Keith Rice, Magicians Community Relations Director, were invited to speak to the fifth graders by Melvin Love, a fifth grade teacher at Central Park Elementary School. "It's amazing to see their reaction. They really loved Mr. McDaniel's speech and swarmed him for autographs afterwards. I have rarely seen them so exuberant and excited," Love said.
McDaniel asked the kids if they had dreams. Dozens of hands quickly went up as the kids told him they had dreams to be everything from astronauts to basketball coaches. McDanield said many of the kids said they were fans of his ABA team and many hand attended games.
The Magicians also donated authentic ABA basketballs to each fifth grade class and to the athletic department at Central Park Elementary. Central Park principal, Bettie Griggs, siad she was very pleased with the Magicians visit to her school and looked forward to their return to the school and basketball court. McDaniel said his team, and organization is currently preparing to make announcements for the upcoming 2007-2008 season.
