KEARNEY, Neb. - The third trip to the Clark Cup Final in six seasons did not bear the same fruit as the first two had, but it put an exclamation point on the tradition of excellence that the Dubuque Fighting Saints organization has consistently put forth since its rebirth in 2010. The Tri-City Storm captured the 2016 Clark Cup with a 4-1 victory over the Fighting Saints on Friday night at the Viaero Center.

The Storm won the series in three games. It was the Storm's first Clark Cup championship in franchise history.

Wade Allison completed the series with nine points, en route to a Clark Cup MVP award. His line of Dan Labosky and Alex Limoges factored into every goal into a tended net in the series, and this game was no exception. Limoges added the first two goals of the game, and Allison the third, the eventual dagger early in the third period.

Brandon Duhaime added the empty netter to close out the scoring.

Nathan Sucese cut a 2-0 advantage for the Storm into a 2-1 advantage with a rebound goal midway through the game. A Joey Keane shot found a way through traffic, Jake Kielly made the initial save, but Sucese stashed home the rebound on the backhand to score the sole goal for the Fighting Saints on the night.

Tri-City allowed the first nine shots on goal, but rallied back with force to take the lead in shots 22-15 through one period of play, and 44-31 for the game.

Dubuque's early 5-on-3 power play chance by the wayside. Tri-City's opportunity did not, leading to Limoges' first goal of the game.

Hunter Miska concluded his Fighting Saints career with a 40-save performance in a losing cause.

The 2015-16 season has come to a close. More information on upcoming events, such as upcoming camps, will be available on our website, DubuqueFightingSaints.com, and on our social media (Facebook, @fightingsaints on Twitter and Instagram).
