Maeko, Greer Assigned to Stockton

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Lightning have announced OS Atnas Maeko and FB/LB Sekai Greer have been assigned to the Lightning by the arenafootball2 league office.

Maeko, 25, is slated to make his af2 debut on Saturday against the Everett Hawks. A six-foot-two, 200-pound Canadian college product of Saint Mary's University (Halifax, NS), Maeko helped guide the Huskies to a 2004 AUS conference title with a 5-1 conference record.

As a 2004 senior, Maeko ranked fourth in the conference with 59.7 receiving yards per game, second with 19.9 yards per catch, and eighth with 358 total receiving yards, while also doubling as a starter on Saint Mary's men's basketball team.

Greer, who is slated to make his Lightning debut on Saturday, returns to the Northern California region as a native of Oakland, Calif. after finishing his college career at University of Akron (NCAA). Greer, 23, appeared in a combined 15 games for the Zips as a 2002 sophomore and 2003 junior, switching to the running back position from defensive back after 2002.

Prior to beginning his college career at Chabot Junior College (Calif.), Greer compiled first-team all-state honors as a fullback and strong safety in Orinda Miramonte High's football program.

In addition, the Lightning have announced FB/LB Maurice Bowers has been placed on the long-term injured reserve list (knee).

The Lightning return to play with a week 6 match-up on Saturday, May 6 against the Everett Hawks at 7:30 p.m. PT at Stockton Arena. The game can be heard live on the internet through www.stocktonlightning.com, courtesy of SportsJuice.com.
