Madison Mallards News Release

Madison, WI - April 21, 2011. The Madison Mallards have announced the start of season-long promotion with Barnes, Inc. and the City of Madison Parks Department to plant a tree in a City Park every time the Mallards break a wooden bat at home during the 2011 season. To launch the promotion, the Mallards, Barnes, Inc. and the City of Madison will plant a tree in Warner Park on Earth Day, Friday, April 22, 2011 at 10 am. This event will be open to the media and Parks Superintendent Kevin Briski, Mallards General Manager, Conor Caloia and Mark Barnes from Barnes, Inc. will be available for comment. Mallards' mascot Maynard G. Mallard will also be present.

Barnes Inc. will be the official sponsor of the Mallards "Break a Bat, Plant a Tree" season-long promotion. This promotion will create awareness of the impending Emerald Ash Borer and make an effort to maintain the tree population in the City of Madison Parks. During all 35 Mallards home games in 2011, the Mallards and Barnes Inc. will donate a tree to the City of Madison Parks Department when a Mallards player breaks an ash bat during a game. The Mallards will donate at least one tree per night (35 total) throughout the season. Each of these trees will be planted in City parks throughout Madison. This promotion will be a major focus of the 2011 season due to the Mallards partnership with the City of Madison Parks.

The Madison Mallards are members of the 16-team summer collegiate Northwoods League and will play a 70-game schedule in the new-and-improved "Duck Pond" beginning on Opening Day, June 7th against the Wisconsin Woodchucks at 7:05p.m.

Single-game tickets for the 2011 season will go on sale beginning Saturday, May 7. Fans can purchase tickets either online at MallardsBaseball.com or over the phone by calling the ticket office at 608.246.4277. Group tickets, including hospitality areas perfect for company outings are now on sale.
