Madison Capitols News Release

The Capitols hit the road on Saturday in hopes of forcing a series split in a home-and-home series with Cedar Rapids. After being outlast in game one, the Caps wanted to make sure that they got out to a quick start on Saturday.

Madison did just that with a pair of first period goals coming off of the sticks of Brendan Lamb and Finn Brink. For Lamb, it was the second consecutive game with a goal after scoring on Friday as well. For Brink, it was his first goal since leaving the team in November. Brink made his return on Friday night and was back in the scoring column on Saturday. Cedar Rapids found one of their own as the Caps led 2-1 at the break.

In the second, Madison was able to strike for a trio of goals, two coming off of the stick of Andrew Kuzma and the other from Ethan Elias. Kuzma found his goals within just over a minute of each other. One came on the power play, and the other came moment after a RoughRiders goal in response.

Madison held as much as a three-goal lead in the second period, but Cedar Rapids made it close late. Down one with under a minute to go, Rastislav Elias held strong to cross the finish line for Madison.

The Caps improve to 12-35-2-1 on the season and will face off against Chicago on Sunday afternoon.
