M-Braves Rally But Fall to Montgomery 6-4

PEARL, MS - The Mississippi Braves (25-34) were defeated by the Montgomery Biscuits (30-29) 6-4 in Wednesday night's contest at Trustmark Park. The Biscuits used 15 hits to score six runs. M-Braves first baseman, Tyler Marlette continued his hot streak at the plate after going 3-for-3 with a RBI and two walks.

Montgomery wasted no time as they scored three runs in the top of the first inning. Nick Solak got the scoring started by depositing a solo home run over the left center field wall. Brett Sullivan then tripled on a fly ball to right field, which allowed Brandon Lowe to score. Nathan Lukes delivered Montgomery's third run of the inning after roping a line drive single to center field, allowing Sullivan to score.

Leading 3-0 entering the top of the second inning, Ryan Boldt extended the Biscuits lead 4-0 via a ground ball RBI single to left field. Thomas Milone scored on the single by Boldt.

In the top of the third inning, Lukes collected his second RBI of the game after sending a sharp ground ball single to center field, which allowed Lowe his second run of the game, extending the Biscuits leads 5-0.

The M-Braves responded in the bottom of the third inning by plating two runs. Tyler Neslony manufactured the M-Braves first run by sending a scorching line drive RBI single to center field, allowing Daniel Lockhart to score. Marlette who was named a Southern League All Star earlier in the day, then followed with a line drive RBI single to right field, which allowed Alay Lago to score, making the score 5-2.

Montgomery picked up their sixth run of the game in the top of the seventh inning when Sullivan produced a RBI groundout. Solak scored from third base on the groundout, giving the Biscuits a 6-2 advantage.

M-Braves center fielder, Connor Lien cut the scoring deficit in half in the bottom of the eighth inning after hammering a solo home run deep over the left field wall. Lago then followed Lien by lacing a RBI double down the right field line to make the score 6-4.

Montgomery's held onto their 6-4 lead and captured a Wednesday night victory against the M-Braves. Montgomery starter, Brandon Lawson (1-0, 3.60) earned the win while Mississippi starter, Andres Santiago (3-1, 4.54) suffered the loss. Travis Ott and Cody Hall were both credited with holds for Montgomery.

The Mississippi Braves and the Montgomery Biscuits will meet at Trustmark Park on Thursday night for the series finale which will begin at 7:00 p.m. (CST). Thursday night's pitching matchup will feature M-Braves LHP Michael Mader (1-1, 3.10) and Montgomery RHP Eduar Lopez (4-2, 4.58). Promotions for Thursday night's contest will include, Thirsty Thursday presented by Entergy

(canned domestic beer and 16 oz. fountain drinks will be $2 each) and Entergy Power to Care Night presented by Entergy (all Entergy and Entergy Nuclear employees can show their ID work badge or business card to get a Dugout or Field Level ticket for only $3).
