
M-Braves Fall to Smokies 10-1 on Friday Night

KODAK, TN - The Mississippi Braves (40-45, 8-10) lost to the Tennessee Smokies (49-37, 13-5) on Friday night at Smokies Stadium. The Smokies have taken the first three games of the series.
Luke Waddell got the scoring started with a solo homer in the first inning, his seventh of the season. In 13 games in July, Waddell is batting .345 with two home runs and 13 RBI. The infielder racked up 46 hits over the last 36 games.
The M-Braves led 1-0 after two innings, but Tennessee dominated the rest of the game. The Smokies hit three home runs and broke the game open with eight runs over the third, fourth and fifth innings.
Drew Lugbauer reached base three times, going 1-for-2 with two walks. Javier Valdes went 2-for-4 in his eighth multi-hit game of the season.
The M-Braves scattered seven hits and drew two walks. Alec Barger was the bright spot among M-Braves pitchers, working around a pair of walks in a scoreless ninth inning.
The two clubs meet for a doubleheader tomorrow at Smokies Stadium starting at 4:30 pm CT. Coverage starts 15 minutes before on 102.1 The Box, MiLB First Pitch App, and Bally Live.
