PEARL, MS - The Mississippi Braves (49-59, 16-24) dropped their second straight contest, 5-1, to the Biloxi Shuckers (57-53, 23-18) on Wednesday night at Trustmark Park.

The Shuckers peppered the scoreboard, scoring one run in five different innings. The M-Braves lone run came in the eighth where they picked up three of their four hits.

Wes Clarke smacked a solo homer past the left-field bullpen to put the Shuckers ahead 1-0 in the second.

Biloxi scored a run in each inning from the fourth to the seventh to lead 5-0.

Drew Campbell extended his on-base streak to 10 games with a base hit in the fifth. Campbell went 1-for-3 with a single and a walk.

Luke Waddell and Cody Milligan provided a pair of defensive highlights in the loss. In the fourth, Waddell took a one-hopper deep in the hole at short and threw on the run to first base. He made a strong throw, but slightly pulled Javier Valdes off the bag. Valdes adjusted and applied the tag to the runner for the out. In the eighth, Milligan made a diving catch on a hard-hit liner to right center, just reaching the ball before it hit the grass.

The M-Braves offense found some life in the eighth. With two outs, Cal Conley laced a triple to right center. Waddell lined a base hit the opposite way to left field to make it 5-1. Jesse Franklin V picked up a single in the inning, extending the club's season-best on-base streak to 25 games.

The third game of the series is on Thursday night at Trustmark Park. RHP Nolan Kingham (2-0, 3.95) will make the start Mississippi while RHP Tobias Myers (6-4, 5.47) will start for Biloxi. The first pitch is at 6:35 pm CT, with coverage starting 15 minutes before on 102.1 The Box, MiLB First Pitch App, and Bally Live.
