Vines goes five innings for sixth straight start, Miller goes 2-for-4 with an RBI BOX SCORE PEARL, MS - The Mississippi Braves (23-25) scored three unanswered runs to tie the game and force extra innings, but the Montgomery Biscuits (18-23) won 7-3 with a four-run 10th inning on Thursday night at Trustmark Park.
Both teams struggled with runners in scoring position, with Montgomery going 3-for-17 and Mississippi going 1-for-13 in those situations.
Montgomery opened the scoring with three runs in the third.
RHP Darius Vines went five innings, giving up three runs with seven strikeouts in his 10th start. Vines has a 4.27 ERA and 65 strikeouts in 51 innings. Atlanta's No. 13 prospect posted at least five innings in six straight starts.
In the fifth, Jalen Miller scored the first M-Braves' run of the game on a base hit and a throwing error. Then, Trey Harris knocked in Andrew Moritz on an RBI groundout to make it 3-2.
Miller tied the game at 3 with a groundball that got through to left field to score CJ Alexander in the sixth.
Miller went 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. He made his seventh start in left field and is hitting .272 with four home runs and 19 RBI in 29 games this season.
LHP Hayden Deal tossed two shutout innings in relief of Vines, dropping to a 2.79 ERA in 29 innings.
LHP Jake Higginbotham navigated a scoreless eighth, and RHP Justin Maese gave the M-Braves a chance to win with a shutout ninth.
Yariel Gonzalez reached on a base hit and advanced to second base in the ninth, but he was left stranded, one of 10 the Braves left on base.
Montgomery scored four unearned runs in the 10th to win 7-3.

The fourth game of the road series is on Friday at Trustmark Park. RHP Tanner Gordon (2-2, 7.59) makes the start for Mississippi against RHP Jayden Murray (1-2, 2.79) for Montgomery. The first pitch is at 6:35 pm CT, with coverage starting at 6:20 pm CT on 103.9 WYAB, TuneIn Radio, First Pitch App, and MiLB.tv.
