MONTGOMERY, AL - The Mississippi Braves' (15-19) winning streak ended at six games with a 10-0 loss to the Montgomery Biscuits on Wednesday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

The Biscuits led 3-0 when the game went into an 89-minute rain delay before resuming play at 8:59 p.m. Starter LHP Luis De Avila was forced to exit after the rain delay, going 2 2/3 innings and allowing five runs.

After the delay, Montgomery scored seven unanswered runs, including homers from Heriberto Hernandez and Diego Infante.

The M-Braves best opportunity to score came in the seventh inning. Down 9-0, Jesse Franklin V and Landon Stephens hit back-to-back singles to right field, and Beau Philip walked to load the bases. The next three batters retired, and the M-Braves came up empty.

RHP Daysbel Hernandez pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings in his second appearance for the M-Braves this season. The right-hander has made seven relief appearances between Rome and Mississippi in 2023 since missing all of last season recovering from Tommy John surgery.

In the eighth, Drew Lugbauer came in to pitch for the first time in his career. Lugbauer retired two batters in a row with a strikeout of Logan Driscoll. The strikeout came on an 87 mile per hour fastball at the top of the zone.

The third game of the series is on Thursday at Riverwalk Stadium. A starter to be named will make the start for Mississippi while LHP Mason Montgomery (0-1, 3.96) makes the start for Montgomery. The first pitch is at 6:35 pm CT, with coverage starting 15 minutes before on 102.1 The Box, First Pitch App, and Bally Live.
