M-Braves Drop Third Straight to Shuckers, 6-3

PEARL, MS - The Mississippi Braves (49-60, 16-25) lost their third straight to the Biloxi Shuckers (58-53, 24-18), 6-3, on Thursday night at Trustmark Park.

Biloxi struck first for three runs in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead and held on to the lead from that point.

Jesse Franklin V's base hit to lead off the second extended his on-base streak to 26 games. Franklin has the team's longest on-base streak this season. He finished 2-for-4 with two singles.

The M-Braves responded in the third. Cody Milligan doubled down the third-base line, and Cal Conley singled and stole second base right after. With two runners in scoring position, Luke Waddell hammered a two-run double off the wall in right field to make it 3-2.

Waddell went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and two RBI. Milligan's double was his 16th of the season.

Nolan Kingham made his fourth start for the M-Braves. The right-hander struck allowed two earned runs in five innings. Kingham has a 3.86 ERA in 18 2/3 innings for the M-Braves.

The Shuckers picked up an insurance run in the sixth to lead 4-2.

Cade Bunnell led off the seventh with a double to the left-field corner. Bryson Horne, the next batter, singled, but a double play helped Biloxi get out of the inning unscathed.

Biloxi's starter Tobias Myers struck out eight over a season-high seven innings. The Shuckers scored two runs on four hits in the ninth to extend their lead to 6-2.

Bunnell doubled again in the ninth to score Franklin from first base and make it 6-3. The double forced Biloxi to dip into the bullpen again. Cam Robinson retired the next two hitters for his 10th save.

Bunnell went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and an RBI. The M-Braves improved on their offense from the first two games, gathering 11 hits and three walks.

The fourth game of the series is on Friday night at Trustmark Park. LHP Luis De Avila (6-7, 3.01) will make the start Mississippi while RHP TJ Shook (4-4, 5.48) will start for Biloxi. The first pitch is at 6:35 pm CT, with coverage starting 15 minutes before on 102.1 The Box, MiLB First Pitch App, and Bally Live.
