
M-Braves Blanked in 3-0 Loss to Blue Wahoos

PENSACOLA, FL - The Mississippi Braves (8-14) lost 3-0 to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (13-10) on Wednesday afternoon at Blue Wahoos Stadium. Pensacola hosted an Education Day and packed in a sold-out crowd of school kids.
RHP Scott Blewett took the loss, exiting down 3-0 after four innings. Blewett allowed three earned runs on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
The Blue Wahoos scored first with a two-run homer from Will Banfield in the second inning. Pensacola added another in the third on an RBI base hit from Dan Myers.
The M-Braves missed some opportunities, leaving 10 runners stranded. Two runners were left in scoring position in the third, and the M-Braves left runners on the corners in the fith. The M-Braves went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position. Javier Valdes led the offense, going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles.
Bryson Worrell notched his first Double-A hit with a double down the right field line. Atlanta signed Worrell as an undrafted free agent in June of 2022.
RHP Miguel Peña tossed two scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit and no walks. In four relief appearances, Peña has allowed one run in six innings.
RHP Trey Riley and RHP Victor Vodnik each added shutout innings. Jacob Pearson drew a two-out walk but was left stranded in the final inning. The M-Braves trail two games to none in the six-game series against Pensacola.
The third game of the series is on Thursday at Blue Wahoos Stadium. LHP Luis De Avila (0-2, 3.14) will make the start for Mississippi against LHP Patrick Monteverde (3-0, 0.35) for Pensacola. The first pitch is at 6:35 pm CT, with coverage starting 15 minutes before on 102.1 The Box, First Pitch App, and Bally Live.
