M-Braves and BayBears Suspended in Rain-Soaked Second

Mississippi Braves News Release

Mobile, AL - Mother nature continued her onslaught on the Mobile BayBears and Mississippi Braves series at Hank Aaron Stadium Tuesday night.

Heavy rains in the afternoon turned what was originally scheduled as a doubleheader into just one game.  Then as the game began just before 7 PM CT, the skies opened again and suspended the game in the middle of the second.

The game will be resumed going into the bottom of the second on Wednesday morning at 11:05 AM.  The fourth game of the series will be played immediately after the conclusion of the suspended game.

The two teams will play a doubleheader in Pearl, MS to make up the fifth game of the series when the BayBears visit Trustmark Park from May 11-15.

In the first, Mobile plated three runs-one earned-thanks in part to two Braves errors.  Raul Navarro, Brandon Drury, Socrates Brito and Rudy Flores led off the game with four straight singles against starter Jake Brigham.

On Flores' knock, David Rohm had difficulty picking up the baseball in right field, leading to another run and a 2-0 lead.  Two batters later, Daniel Castro dropped an Alex Glenn popup to short, leading to a 3-0 Mobile lead.

After the Braves hit in the top of the second, the umpires waved the game off.

The Braves will start right-hander Greg Ross (1-1, 7.24) in the resumed game, while right-hander Victor Mateo (0-1, 7.11) will take the ball in the second game.

Listen live beginning at 10:30 AM CT Wednesday morning on the flagship home of the Mississippi Braves, 103.9 WYAB, and online at MississippiBraves.com.
