Augusta Lynx News Release
The Augusta Lynx are proud to announce that their web site has been selected among the best in the ECHL by NHL.com's Rich Libero in voting for ECHL Web Site of the Year honors. The Bakersfield Condors were selected as the inaugural winners of the award at the ECHL Marketing and Communications Meetings in Las Vegas, Nevada last week.
The web sites for each of the ECHL teams were reviewed by Libero, who is in his sixth year as Vice President Editorial & Production, NHL.com, the official web site of the National Hockey League.
Bakersfield (www.bakersfieldcondors.com) finished ahead of Alaska (www.alaskaaces.com), Augusta (www.augustalynx.com), Columbia (www.columbiainferno.com), Gwinnett (www.gwinnettgladiators.com) and Wheeling (www.wheelingnailers.com).
Augusta's web site underwent a major re-design prior to the 2004-05 Season through Infinity Sports Management, a division of UK Advertising, Inc. Home to hockey clients from all levels of the minors, Infinity Pro Sports helped the Lynx create a dynamic, detailed web site with many new features.
"When we first made the decision to re-launch our Web site last summer, one of our main goals for the process was to make the site geared toward our fans, and we are honored that the ECHL and NHL.com has recognized our efforts," said Lynx assistant general manager Rob Mueller. "With interactive features such as audio and video clips, âAsk the Coach/Ask a Player,' photo galleries, âFan of the Week', and âWhere Are They Now?,' to name a few, we think AugustaLynx.com is one of the best sites in the league for the fan."
"Plus," he continued, "we have special password-only sections with premium content such as game notes, game-night program downloads and in-depth stats for our Season Ticket Holders and Sponsors â giving our biggest fans something extra. We've got even more in store for next season, such as a Blog, to make the site even better."
Libero was instrumental in the development and implementation of the NHL.com Network which includes all 30 member teams in the NHL as well as numerous league and hockey-related web sites, including the ECHL. During his tenure, NHL.com has seen traffic increase from hundreds of thousands of page views and tens of thousands of visitors to millions of page views and visitors. NHL.com is the No. 1 hockey site in the world, the No. 1 sports site in Canada and Netscore consistently ranks it among the Top 10 sports sites in the world.
