NORTH CHARLESTON, SC—South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that right wing John Hecimovic has signed a contract with the Stingrays for next season. Hecimovic is the first player signed by the team for the 2005-06 campaign.

The 9th round draft pick of the Florida Panthers in 2003 has played five seasons in the Ontario Hockey League. Hecimovic joins the Stingrays after four seasons with the Sarnia Sting and one year with the Mississauga Ice Dogs. Hecimovic was a teammate of Stingrays Joe Tenute and Aaron Power with the Sting.

"We are excited to have a player of John's caliber signed this early in the off season," commented Fitzsimmons. "He is a big strong forward that has shown an ability to score goals."

Hecimovic played 39 games with the Ice Dogs last season, scoring 19 goals and 14 assists for 33 points. In his previous 267 games with the Sting, he added 103 goals and 98 assists for 201 points to his record.

The Stingrays will drop the puck on their 13th season of professional hockey in October. A variety of season ticket and group ticket packages are already on sale. For ticket information contact the Stingrays office at 744-2248 or log on to www.stingrayshockey.com.
