July 30, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release

The Augusta Lynx today announced the signings of defenseman Lawnie Snyder and forward Dean Jackson to contracts with the club for the 2004-05 Season.

Snyder comes to the club after spending four years with the Elmira College Soaring Eagles, leading all Division III defenseman in scoring last year and finishing sixth in scoring among all players. In just 24 games the Toronto, Ont. native registered 14 goals and 37 points, with 11 of those goals coming on the power play, tying him for first in the nation with teammate Jarrett Konkle. After last year's stellar performance, Snyder was named an ACHA JOFA First Team All-American, as well as being selected for the ECAC West All-Conference First Team.

"Lawnie is a great skater who can carry the puck and has a great shot," said Tim Ceglarski, Elmira College's Men's Hockey Coach. "Despite his smaller size (5-9, 166), he was definitely one of the top four all-around defenseman in Division III this year."

Jackson also played four years at Elmira, three with Snyder, before turning pro with the Elmira Jackals following his senior season. Last year, the 24 year-old forward notched seven goals and 20 points in 52 games with the Jackals, his first full pro campaign. In 59 games as a pro, Jackson has eight goals and 22 points, along with 19 games of playoff experience.

"Jackson's got a strong shot and very good hands," said Stan Drulia, Lynx Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations. "With the addition of Lawnie and Dean, the team looks better and better. We're going to be solid right off the bat."

Snyder and Jackson now join Terry Marchant, Jason Saal, Louis Goulet, Todd Bennett, Jarrett Thompson, Treavor Peterson, and Josh St. Louis as players inked to the Lynx for the 2004-05 Season. Full and partial season tickets are on sale now through the Lynx office by calling (706) 724-4423, or stopping by the office at 712 Telfair St. in downtown Augusta.
