UNCASVILLE, Conn. (December 16, 2009) Lyman Hall High School of Wallingford has been selected as the first Connecticut Sun High School Girls' Basketball Team of the Week, presented by Camaro Signs of Yantic, for the week of December 7-13.
Last Friday night, Lindsay Karle scored a career-high 31 points as Lyman Hall pulled out a 58-57 victory over Career Magnet High School of New Haven, which was ranked No. 3 in the New Haven Register's preseason poll. Lyman also posted a 47-39 win over Foran last Thursday.
This is the fourth season the Connecticut Sun has recognized a Team of the Week. Each winner will receive a commemorative plaque and a congratulatory letter from Connecticut Sun coach Mike Thibault.
The Team of the Week is part of a series of initiatives undertaken by the Connecticut Sun to highlight local high school girls' basketball, where future WNBA stars are already competing. The Sun have also hosted the CIAC Championship luncheon and the four state title games, and the team will recognize the four champions during a ceremony at halftime of a regular season game during the 2010 season.
