
Ãlvaro SaborÃo to Join Costa Rican National Team for S Tart of 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying

Washington, D.C. (Nov. 6, 2015) - D.C. United forward Ãlvaro SaborÃo has been called into the Costa Rican National Team for 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches on Nov. 13 vs. Haiti in San Jose, Costa Rica, and Nov. 17 at Panama in Panama City, Panama.
SaborÃo has four goals in 14 appearances (11 starts) in the regular season and the MLS Cup Playoffs for D.C. United in 2015. The veteran forward scored in his debut for the Black-and-Red on July 26 following his acquisition from Real Salt Lake in exchange for Luis Silva. SaborÃo also scored in D.C. United's first-ever match at Yankee Stadium against New York City FC on Aug. 13. When the teams met again at RFK Stadium on Oct. 2, he scored a game-winning goal that also clinched United's berth in the MLS Cup Playoffs.
SaborÃo has 35 career goals in 102 appearances for Costa Rica, making his debut in 2002. He is a veteran of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and he most recently appeared for Costa Rica in his fourth CONCACAF Gold Cup.
